[오늘의영어표현] 눈에 띄다 stand out, catch my eyes

오늘은 '무언가가 내 눈에 띄었어' 라는 표현을 배울꺼예요. 생활속에서도 많이 쓰이는 표현인데요
 

1. To stand out – When something or someone is noticeable among others.
   • Example: She really stands out in a crowd. 저 인파속에서 그녀는 눈에 띈다.
2. To catch one's eye – When something or someone catches attention.
   • Example: The colorful painting caught my eye. 색색깔의 페인팅이 눈에 띄었다.
3. To be noticeable – When something is easy to notice or distinct.
   • Example: His new hairstyle was very noticeable 그의 새로운 머리 스타일이 매우 눈에 띄었다.

 
이렇게 3가지 정도 정리 할 수 있습니다. 하나씩 예를 더 들어 볼께요.
 

• To stand out
  • Her bright red dress made her stand out at the party. 그녀의 밝은 빨간 드레스가 파티에서 돋보이게 만들었다.
• To catch one's eye
  • The shiny new phone on the display caught my eye immediately. 전시되어 있는 새로운 폰이 내 눈에 띄었다.
• To be noticeable
  • The graffiti on the wall was noticeable from a distance. 벽에 있는 그래피티가 멀리서도 눈에 띄었다.

 
이중에서 catch my eyes 를 이용해 초급 중급 고급 대화문을 만들어 보았습니다.

Beginner Level:

A: Did you see that dress in the shop window?
B: Yes, it really caught my eye.
A: I love the color. It's so bright!
B: Me too! Should we go check it out?
A: 너 가게 창문에 있는 그 드레스 봤어?
B: 응, 정말 눈에 띄었어.
A: 색이 너무 예쁘다. 정말 밝아!
B: 나도! 가서 한 번 볼까?
 

Intermediate Level:

A: I was walking by the art gallery, and something really caught my eye.
B: Oh, what was it?
A: It was this beautiful painting, full of vibrant colors. I couldn’t stop looking at it!
B: That sounds amazing. Do you remember the artist’s name?
A: I didn’t check, but I’ll go back and find out.
A: 미술관을 지나가는데 뭔가가 정말 눈에 띄었어.
B: 아, 뭐였어?
A: 아주 예쁜 그림이었어. 색감이 정말 화려했어. 계속 쳐다볼 수밖에 없었어!
B: 정말 멋지다. 화가 이름은 기억나?
A: 확인하진 않았는데, 다시 가서 알아볼게.
 

Advanced Level:

A: While I was at the market, something quite unique caught my eye—a handcrafted wooden clock with intricate carvings.
B: That sounds intriguing. What about it stood out to you?
A: The craftsmanship was exceptional, and the details were so refined. It almost felt like a piece of art rather than just a functional object. 
*exceptional  : 
이례적일 정도로 우수한, 특출한 (=outstanding)                                                                                           At the age of five he showed exceptional talent as a musician.그는 다섯 살의 나이에 음악에 특출한 재능을 보였다

극히 예외적인 (↔unexceptional)                                                                                                                                       This deadline will be extended only in exceptional circumstances. 이 기한은 오직 극히 예외적인 상황에서만 연장될 것이다.

*rather than~보다는 
I would rather stay home and watch a movie than go out a crowded party. 북적거리는 파티 가는것 보다는 집에서 영화 한편 보는것이 낫겠어
 

 
B: I love when something as simple as a clock can capture attention like that. Did you end up buying it?
A: I’m still debating, but I might go back for it. It’s rare to find something that captivating.

A: 시장에 있을 때, 정말 독특한 게 눈에 띄었어—정교하게 조각된 손으로 만든 나무 시계였어.
